About Us
Coominya Flight Training is on a 250 acre cattle grazing property, one and a half hours west of Bris-bane between the Wivenhoe & Atkinson Dam 's, in the beautiful Lockyer Valley in Queensland. We are a 'one on one' training school from start to finish. We do flight training from ab-initio stu-dents in recreational aircraft.
Our training area is north of the Atkinson Reservoir, south of Lake Wivenhoe and west of Coominya township. This area covers mixed farming country, which includes grazing, cropping, orchards and turf farming. The area is in the northern part of the beautiful Lockyer Valley and includes many pri-vate airstrips and aviation enthusiasts.
The airfield lies across Amberley's CTR boundary and underneath controlled airspace and all training is carried out with the approval of, and clearance from, Amberley Approach when the military base is active. The airfield is in the centre of a 250 acre cattle property with obstruction free approaches and all weather, level grass surface. Air traffic at this quiet location is minimal, which allows ab-initio stu-dents to safely settle into the aviation environment without having to cope with unusual maneuvers by other aircraft.
